Peg was born on July 15, 1939 to the late Edwin D. Olson and the late Margaret Olson(nee Carroll). She passed into eternity peacefully in her favorite place(her sleep number bed) on October 15, 2025.
A self-proclaimed "Unclaimed Jewel", Peg never married. She was the beloved sister to three brothers: Victor (Sandra) Olson, the late E. Robert "Bob" Olson, and the late Kenneth (the late Susan) Olson. Affectionately referred to as "Aunt Peg" to many, her six nieces: Kimberly (Michael) Heran, Lisa Olson (the late Marcial Rivera), Victoria (Salvatore) DeLucia, Tracy (Chuck) Luker, Kristina (Richie) Pacheco, and Heather (Ignacio) Urtubi are truly blessed to have such an amazing aunt! Going as far as driving the six of them when they were children and teenagers up the Eastern US in a Winnebago with her best friend, the late Marie Gancarz-what an incredible feat! God almost doubled her blessings with 10 great nephews and 1 great niece: James and Ryan Heran, Zachariah Rivera, Darren Barrile, Kenny and Charlie Luker, Alexandra, Eric, and David Pacheco, and Sebastian and Matias Urtubi. She had many loving cousins and long time friends. Her family and friends brought so much joy to her-her smile and laugh will live in our hearts forever.
She was born in Chicago, IL and was proud to call it her hometown until 2023 when she became a Florida resident officially in Casselberry, FL. Peg was a retiree after working as a math teacher for the Chicago Public Schools for 32 years-quite an accomplishment! After retiring, she served as trustee of the Chicago Teachers Pension Fund for 20+ years and had several part-time positions including working at a shrink's office and funeral home-just to name a few.
Peg had a heart of gold and was always extremely giving. She supported countless causes-from charities like the Augustinian Chulucanas Mission in Peru to those who may have just needed a little helping hand. Her most recent claim to fame was several encounters with our current Pope Leo XIV, a fellow Chicagoan.
Peg was a hoot-no one can deny-the life of every party. She'd grab dance partners right and left. She loved to be the center of attention-her booming laugh probably heard blocks away and she was more often than not the loudest voice in the room! She was an avid sports fan, but lived in Chicago making her a shamelessly hopeful Bears, Bulls, and White Sox fan! She truly enjoyed life, travelling the world after her retirement with her family and friends. Her hobbies included Paper: be it collecting, hoarding, ripping, recycling, shredding-you get the idea. "I can't find that piece of paper I was just looking at" was heard many times daily. She loved a good Western or old cop TV show, reading on her Kindle, and a Pinot Grigio.
There will never be another Peg like this one-God broke the mold! All who knew her are truly blessed and she will live in our hearts forever.
