Mae Burnell (James) Lemons, 92 years young, passed away August 13th, 2020, at home in the loving care of her children Ellen (Lemons) Williams & Styron Lemons.
She was born April 10, 1928, in Greenville, NC. She was the daughter of William C. James & Mae Lillian (Meeks). She married Ottis S. Lemons on December 31, 1948.
Burnell grew up in Stokes & Greenville, NC. She was active, in her school days, in theater with leading roles, captain of the girls' basketball team, drove the school bus for the country children at young age of 15. She was also a photographer & gardener. She worked at the VA Naval Base as a Postal Clerk where she met her immediate future husband Ottis Lemons. They had the life of travels with the Navy & were soon stationed overseas in Portleode/Morocco, Africa, Panama & Trinidad, returning to the states in VA & then Florida in 1960, working for local attorneys & the Seminole County School Board & where the family lived out their lives.
She is survived by her daughter Ellen Williams, son Styron Lemons, eight grandchildren, 12 great-grands, three great-great-grands & 2 sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ottis, a son Stephen Marcus Lemons, three sisters, three brothers & her parents. Because of the current state of affairs, a private Life Celebration was held for Family in her honor as a very loving, nurturing, praying godly Mom.
