To know Lucy Stukelis Bellochi was to love her spaghetti, potato salad, cucumber salad, and stuffed green peppers. The consummate homemaker, her meals were prepared with wonderful flavors and spiced with love.
Born in Lithuania on May 29, 1928, Lucy immigrated to the United States when she was a young girl. While traveling in Italy in 1958, she met the love of her life, Joseph F. Bellochi. They married in 1959, living both abroad and stateside during Joseph's long and decorated United States Army career.
Over their years together Lucy and Joseph had 3 children: Laura, Liz, and John. After Joseph's retirement, the family moved to Florida, where Lucy took great pride in making their house into a home, doting on her children and, later, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In May 2015, Lucy and Joseph celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Then, in June, Joseph passed away unexpectedly.
Lucy found comfort from her memories of their love and the continuing devotion of her family. She fought a valiant battle with cancer, using all of the strength she had, until on September 1, 2015, while surrounded by her children, Lucy was once again reunited with Joseph in the life after this one.
While they were still here with us, the job Lucy and Joseph loved most was taking care of one another, and we find comfort in the thought that they are caring for one another again; this time for all eternity.
Lucy is survived by daughter Laura Bellochi and her husband Guy Thompson, daughter Liz Berkner, son John Bellochi and his wife Jeanne; Grandchildren: Melissa Beauchemin and her husband Brandon, Madison Berkner and her fiancé Vinny Agovino, Joseph Bellochi and Allyson Bellochi; and Great Grandchildren Oliver Beauchemin and Claire Beauchemin.
Interment will be held at Arlington Nation Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
