Lucille "Lucy" Yvette Guerette Ouellette

Lucille (Lucy) Yvette Guerette Ouellette, age 87, of Apopka Florida passed away Sunday January 31, 2021. She was born September 14, 1933 and raised in Guerette, Maine. Guerette is small settlement community named after her grandfather Frank Guerette, whom with his wife Elise were the first settlers there. She was raised in a convent in St. Agatha Maine which provided her a strong spiritual foundation.

Lucy met her future husband, Emile Richard "Rick" Ouellette upon his return from United States Air Force military duty in Korea in 1954. Rick and Lucy married Sept.8, 1954. She was a beautiful, virtuous, godly woman on a mission of love. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Apopka, Florida. She loved God, loved her husband and loved her children. She had four children and lovingly nurtured her family teaching them to always love God and live by the Golden Rule. She was a former active member of St. Andrews Catholic Church and involved in various ministries, neighborhood apostolate, Eucharistic minister and caring for the sick. She was a choir member for 14 years. She had a caring heart and generous spirit. She loved people, and made lots of friends wherever she went. She was an amazing cook. She loved being outside, listening to the birds, working in her roses and flower garden, just enjoying God's creations. She was a military wife for 17 years and accompanied her husband Rick serving in the United States Air Force with assignments in Germany, Italy and the Philippine Islands, which carried a lot of sacrifices. She was always devoted and dedicated to him, his work and her family. Rick retired in Florida in 1971.

Lucy also enjoyed baking, photography, scrapbooking and making crafts as some of her hobbies, which she enjoyed giving to others. Lucy is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Emile Richard Ouellette "Rick" of Apopka, Florida; her parents Alex and Martha Guerette; sister Jeanette Albert; brothers Frank and John Guerette all from Guerette Maine.

Lucy is survived by her daughter Vera and husband Glen Strickland of Madisonville, TN; son Don Ouellette of Phoenix, Arizona; son Dave and his wife Tracey Ouellette of Apopka, Florida; son Dean and his wife Michelle Ouellette of Apopka, Florida. Grandsons Stephen and his wife Ashley Van Dyke of Greenback, TN; grandson Cole Strickland of Madisonville, TN; and grandson Dylan Kyle Ouellette of Apopka, Florida.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 834 South Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka, Florida, 32712. Date: 11:00 a.m. March 31, 2021.
