Lt. Colonel, Ret. Leo A. "Bud" Kramer, Jr. passed away peacefully on 10/8/2024 at the age of 87.
Bud is survived by his loving wife, Denyse Walsh Kramer of Sanford, FL; his five adored children Michael Kramer (Natalie Rojas) of Winter Park, FL, Blaine Kramer (Danielle Bongiorno) of Parlon, NJ, Daniel Kramer (Dominick Biunno), Kerri Bertran (Jeremy Bertran) and Kelli Vocks (John Vocks) all from Orlando, FL.

Buds' cherished grandchildren, Sean Williams, Pensacola, FL., Hansel Scott, Orlando, FL., Trevor Bertran, Orlando, FL., Tyler Bertran, Orlando, FL., Colby Bertran, Orlando, FL., Jenna Bertran, Orlando, FL., Lena Kramer, Parlon, NJ., Ford Meyer, Orlando, FL., Lincoln Meyer, Orlando, FL., Ryker Vocks, Orlando, FL.

Bud was also a loving step father to his four step-children, Debbie LeGrand, Longwood, FL., Thomas Walsh Jr, Apopka, FL., Susan Walsh, New Smyrna Beach, FL., and Daniel Walsh, Big Rapids, MI. Bud also survived by his brother, Lt. Colonel, Ret, Harry C Kramer, Bel Air, MD. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo A Kramer and Margaret Lee Boyer. He is also preceded in death by his sisters Betty Bartlett of Richmond, VA and Clara Weaver of Rougemont, NC. Bud was very proud of his 10 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren.

Bud was born on November 21, 1936 in Richmond, VA. He graduated from Benedictine High School, Richmond, VA He then attended and graduated from Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. He also went to Graduate School at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA where he received a M.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering. Bud was in the military from 1959- 1984 and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He served two tours in Viet Nam where he commanded a fleet of helicopters. His army skills included being a Paratrooper, Ranger (Honor Graduate), Aviator in both helicopter and fix-wing.

He received numerous military awards including DFC (2), one for Valor, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (2), Air Medal (29), one for Valor, Army Commendation for Valor, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Meritorious Service Medal, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Ranger Tab, Senior Parachutist Wings, Senior Army Aviator
Wings, Canadian Parachute Wings. Classification: General

Bud was active in his community delivering Meals on Wheels, volunteering at Soup Kitchens and Food pantries, served as Chairman of the Crystal River, Florida Flag Committee, Minister to the sick and Eucharistic Minister.

Funeral services for Bud are as follows: October 19, 2024 Viewing will be from 10:30-11:30 at DeGusipe Funeral Homes located at 905 Laurel Avenue Sanford, FL Mass to follow at noon at All Souls Chapel 800 S Oak Avenue Sanford, FL All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bud's life. The burial will be Tuesday 10/22/2024 at 1:30 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery 5525 US-1 Mims, FL 32754.
