Lois A. Douglas

Lois Ann Douglas, 72, of St. Petersburg passed away peacefully on November 7, 2020 surrounded by her daughters. She is survived by her husband Ed Douglas of 25 years, her sister Vera Martin(Mickey), her brother Brad Hale(Cheryl), her children Richele Clark(Bryan), Amber Williamson(Amanda), Tara Chambers, and Michael Douglas. Her grandchildren Zachery Douglas(Nicole), Neville Chambers, Zacary Clark(Elizabeth), Chyna Williamson(Alexis), and Travis Clark. Her great grandchildren Payton and Dakota Clark. Born in Jacksonville Florida, Lois moved frequently during her childhood, as her father pursued a lifelong career in the U.S. Navy, ending up in St Pete where she spent most of her life. She graduated with honors from Northeast High School in 1965. She became a loving wife and mother. She eventually fulfilled her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse, when graduating with honors from St. Petersburg Junior College. Her nursing career was spent entirely at Edward White Hospital where she first worked in the Intensive Care Unit, she then took a position in the Emergency Department, when due to illness she retired from in 2012. Her career was never just a job, it was a dynamic part of her life. She loved what she did and in return was loved and respected by the many doctors and nurses she knew and worked with. Her passion for nursing never faded. Even when illness progressed, she never forgot her knowledge of medicine nor her love of giving others comfort and care. During her time at Eddie’s Place she made many lifetime friends that remained in her heart always. In her personal life her greatest joy was spending time with her husband and children. She loved to have family gatherings and believed any reason was a good reason to get together with family. She respected the individuality of each of her family members and showed that love throughout her life. Lois also loved to craft, she could find any plain object and turn it into a beautiful work of art. This allowed her to beautifully decorate her home, which she referred to as her sanctuary. Lois was an incredible daughter, mother, wife, sister and friend, and those that had the honor of knowing her, will continue to love and miss her every day.
