Lila Abraham Wherry, beloved wife, mother, sister and best friend passed away on September 8, 2018. She will always be remembered for her devotion to family and her passion for art, culture and world travel. Following graduation from Logan High School in West Virginia, Lila moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where she worked in the administrative office at Boston University before moving with her family to Miami, Florida. Upon arrival in Miami, Lila worked as an administrative assistant to the Dean at the University of Miami School of Law, where she met the love of her life Kendell Wooldridge Wherry. Kendell and Lila married in 1957 and were a wonderful team until Kendell's death in March, 2016. Lila and Kendell settled in Maitland, Florida in 1966, where they nurtured, educated and inspired their three children, Karin, Kim and Kendell Todd. While Kendell opened and developed the United States Attorney's office in Orlando, Lila balanced her roles as wife and mother while she earned her B.A. and Master's Degrees at Florida Technological University, now UCF. She followed her interest in real estate and earned her Florida Broker's license which she maintained active until the end of her life. Throughout her life, Lila was a talented artist with a primary interest in abstract expressionism, though she also created real life images of landscapes and portraits. Lila regularly enjoyed her Zumba classes. Lila was an inspiration to all who knew her and her effervescence and eternal optimism always radiated through her presence and dazzling smile. She is survived by her children, Karin, Kim (Mitch) and Kendell Todd (Michelle), sisters Eleanor and JoAnn Abraham and eight grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the DeGusipe Funeral Home in Maitland, Florida at 9:00 a.m. after which she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
