Lewis Edward (Ed) Evans, 82, passed peacefully at home surrounded by love. Forever cherishing his memory is Ed's beloved wife and best friend of 63 years, Ruth Ann Evans. The two had a love story like no other. They married in Paducah, KY and soon left home for Washington DC, where both worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Ed also served his country in the US Army (Military Intelligence) and then became highly respected FBI Special Agent Ed Evans, faithfully serving this nation— from Capitol Hill to Monterey, CA—until his retirement.
Ed continued to do investigative work after retiring, but he also lived large, driving his blue Corvette, golfing in the Florida sunshine, and enjoying fine Kentucky bourbon and good cigars on warm summer nights.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Elizabeth Evans, his brother Donald M. Evans (and Don's son, Mark) as well as sister, Melinda Kay Evans.
After retirement, Ed and Ann moved from Louisville, KY to Lake Mary, Florida to be closer to family—nephew and niece Doug and Wendy Evans. When their children came along, Ed and Ann became Mimi and Paw Paw to Ethan and Callie, who simply adored them. They spoiled their grands and never missed a grandparents day function or school Christmas program!
Also beloved by Paw Paw is sister-in-law and friend Ann Evans (Orlando), as well as her daughter (and Ed's niece) Kimberly, her husband Charles Oscar Charles, and their daughters Amelia and Christiana of San Antonio, TX.
Ed joins at Heaven's Gates some of his beloved Bureau colleagues who went before, and he leaves behind many other colleagues, neighbors, and friends who miss him immensely. Just before his passing, Ed looked out his picture window at the golden sun peeking through the trees and said, "I'm seeing Jacob's ladder."
Ed is now resting in eternal peace within his Father's house, where a room was lovingly prepared for him and angels rejoiced at his arrival.
