Leroy Robert Shea, 78, of Carmichaels, PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at his home with his wife Joanne by his side.
Leroy was born on September 10, 1946, in Uniontown, PA, the son of the late Wendell and Dorothy (Presock) Shea.
Leroy battled 4 different cancers for 25 years. He graduated from Carmichaels High School. He attended Penn State for mining classes. He was a very well rounded, passionate, hard-working person. At just 15 years old he worked in Ohio and bought his own car. He also worked at US Steel, Robena Prep Plant and on the River Barges. His wife, Joanne designed their home in which they completely built together. They built a replica of a 1952 MG. Lee made a lot of the furniture, cabinets and stained glass in their home. They owned a Country Gift Shop and made many items for it. Leroy loved his Harley. They loved to travel and have been to every state except Oregon and Washington. They traveled to Paris, France, Southern France, Ireland, London, England, Nova Scotia, Canada, New Brunswick and Mexico.
Leroy is survived by his wife of 46 1/2 years whom he married on April 7, 1979, Joanne (Smith) Shea, former Art teacher at Central Greene School District.
He is also survived by his sisters, Joyce (Jim) Boyd, Karen (Frank) Putila, and Terri (Jeff) Donaldson and their families.
Leroy is also survived by Joanne's family which he felt was his family, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Len and Carol Smith, niece, Joy (Jay) Shields, nephew, Ryan Smith, and great nephews, Hudson Shields, Landon Shields, Lawson Shields, and Kaidan Harding-Smith.
Arrangements are under the direction of the DeGusipe Funeral Home and Crematory, 65 N. Gallatin Ave., Uniontown, PA, Stacey A. Dolfi, FD. Per Leroy's request, arrangements are private and there will be NO Memorial Service.
