Obituary

Leo Michael Hartman, age 64, of Casselberry, Florida, passed away on March 30, 2018.

He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Nancy and the late David Hartman on August 30, 1953, and the family moved to Maitland, Florida when Leo was four years old. There, he attended Bishop Moore High School and University of Florida, where he graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Horticulture.

Leo met his late wife, Ann, in one of his earliest jobs which took him to New Jersey. They moved together to Arvada, Colorado, where they worked together at Veldkamp's Greenhouse, Leo as the General Manager. They had their only child, Kaitlin, while in Arvada, and raised her there for her first thirteen years. They were very active and involved in their church at Spirit of Christ Catholic Community. Leo was also President of the Colorado Greenhouse Growers Association in 1999 & 2000.

Leo's greatest passions in life included fishing, reading, the arts, his career, and most importantly, his faith. He spent extended stays at a Monastery Retreat in Georgia, and was both an active member of the Men's Club as well as Eucharistic Minister at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church.

His final place of employment was at Dewar Nursery in Apopka, Florida, where he passed away suddenly, surrounded by his colleagues, doing what he loved to do. He had spent the day before fishing with one of his closest friends, Doug Stilwell. With the greatest delights of his life being flowers, fishing, and faith, his death on Good Friday seems to do justice to the last.

Leo is survived by his daughter Kaitlin Staples, her husband Danny, and grandson, Duke, of Eminence, Missouri; his mother, Nancy Hartman, of Altamonte Springs, Florida; his brothers Larry, Richard, Daniel, and Peter, and sister, Anne; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great nephews.

His Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 24th, at 10 a.m. at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
