Obituary

With profound love and deep gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of Laverne Wilson Woodard of Winter Park, Florida, a devoted Christian woman whose faith, compassion, and unwavering commitment to service touched everyone blessed to know her.

A lifelong and faithful member of Ward Chapel AME Church, Laverne served in many leadership roles throughout the years. She worked diligently as a Steward, Church Clerk, Usher, and Voices of Ward Choir member, always offering her gifts with humility, joy, and a heart devoted to God.

Her presence in the church was steady and dependable —whether she was greeting worshippers with her warm smile, lifting her voice in song, or ensuring the church's work was carried out with grace and excellence.

Laverne was a loving widow, cherishing the memory of her beloved husband, Ronald, while continuing to live with strength, dignity, and unwavering faith. She was the proud mother of four adult children: Monica, Patrea, Lucious, and Jewel, each of whom carries forward her values of kindness, resilience, and love.

She was blessed with a beautiful and growing family, including her cherished grandchildren:

Tony (Zuly), Deron, Emerald, Darrah (Darion), Sandra, and Kia, all of whom brought her immense joy. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren-Jackson, Nilah, and Zalani-who were lights in her life and sources of endless pride.

Laverne is also survived by her two devoted sisters: Phyllis Cooper of Orlando, and Jacqueline Robinson of Altamonte Springs, who shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and unbreakable family bonds with her.

To her entire family, she was a source of unconditional love and wisdom. To her dedicated friends and community, she was a trusted confidante, a gentle encourager, and a woman whose character spoke louder than any words. Her kindness was limitless, and her ability to make others feel valued and welcomed was one of her greatest gifts.

Though her passing leaves a deep ache in our hearts, we find comfort in knowing she has entered eternal rest, reunited with loved ones who went before her, and embraced by the God she served so faithfully. Her legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to shine through the countless lives she touched.

She will be deeply missed yet forever remembered.
