Rev. Kenneth Lloyd Kleidon, age 75 of Longwood, FL passed away on August 20, 2014. Born in Highland, Michigan, Rev. Kleidon served 50 years in the Presbyterian church. He served as Senior Pastor, Forreston Grove Presbyterian (Forreston, IL), Associate Pastor, Westminster Presbyterian Church (Rockford, IL), Senior Pastor, Maple Heights Presbyterian Church (Maple Heights, OH), Senior Pastor and Pastor Emeritus, Knox Presbyterian Church (Minneapolis, MN), Pulpit Supply Minister, Twin Cities Presbyterian (Minneapolis, MN), and Parish Associate, Wekiva Presbyterian Church (Longwood, FL). He attended Wheaton College (Bachelor of Arts in Bible), and Princeton Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity and Pastoral Counseling). Rev. Kleidon led the development of the Presbyterian-wide missions that was one of the largest in the nation at the time and continues today, worked with pastors to establish Christian Volunteers of Minnesota dedicated to building mission contacts and service in the horn of Africa, served as representative on the National Board of Missions for a time as well as two terms on the National Board of Directors for Presbyterians for Renewal, organized three area Presbyterian churches to sponsor and support a Ukrainian family of 17, many of whom were regularly in the Kleidon's home during the transition for meals and other services, led a partnership to send a team to Russia for a ten day evangelistic crusade with trained pastor remaining behind to establish a church for the newly reached, awarded a trip to the Holy Land by a local chapter of the Masons, considered a highlight of all his travels as he walked in the places where Christ had walked, and continued to minister according to his ability throughout his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Mildred (Knapp) Kleidon and his brother Lee Kleidon. Survived by his wife of 53 years Patricia Ann LaBorde Kleidon of Longwood, FL and Lake Crystal, MN, daughters Cheri Darling (Rick) of Marana, AZ, Kathy Mellowe (Greg) of Orlando, FL, and Karen DeNicola (Dylan) of Altamonte Springs, FL, grandchildren: Bethany, Emily, Matthew, Serena, and a sister, Carolyn Breidenbaugh. There will be a Memorial Service on Wed, August 27, 2014 at 1:00pm at Wekiva Presbyterian Church, 211 Wekiva Springs Ln, Longwood, FL 32779.
