Obituary

Kenneth Winford Hise passed away May 9, 2026. He was born September 21, 1927 and shortly after graduating from High school joined the Army and was assigned to the army of occupation in northeast Italy. With the creation of the Free Territory of Trieste he was assigned to Trieste United States Troops. It was there that he met and married his wife Franca. On return to the states he was assigned to West Point where he applied for Officer Candidate School and was commissioned a second lieutenant in February, 1950. With war in Korea he found himself in Pyongyang North Korea in November of that year. On return from Korea he was assigned to Orlando Florida in support of the missile program at Patrick Air Force Base. From Orlando he spent three years in England building air fields for the Air Force. From England it was to Fort Polk Louisiana and then to Guam and Okinawa. On transfer to Germany he served as facilities director fortwo Kesernes in Bavaria. From Germany he was assigned to National Guard Advisory in North Dakota and was sent to Viet Nam where he spent calendar year 1966 as area engineer for four installations in the Mekong Delta. On his return to the states he was assigned to Dugway Proving Ground in Utah where he retired. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his military service. After retirement he moved to Florida where he earned his Master's Degree at Florida State University. He was hired by the newly created Valencia Community College where he taught for 20 years. While at Valencia he was active in the Florida Association of Community Colleges (now the Florida College Association) serving as president in 1980 and where he was granted honorary life membership. He earned his doctorate and also served as Educational director for the Central Florida Chapter of the American Institute of Banking. On his retirement he participated in the creation of a campus of Webster University in Orlando where he served in various capacities for over 20 years.

He is survived by his wife of 77 years, four children, Mary Frances, Kenneth Neil, Thomas Wayne, Kevin Michael, six grandchildren Greg, Jessica, Bryan, Brittney, Lisa, Gina and 9 great grandchildren.
