Kenneth Doktor, 77, passed away at Hospice of the Comforter on Tuesday February 28, 2017. Ken was the husband of Miriam Rye Doktor who also passed away recently. Both were happily affiliated with Miriam and Valerie's School of Dance Arts in Sanford. Ken, who was born in New Jersey, came to make his home in Sanford when he and his sweetheart Miriam, married here 25 years ago.
Ken enjoyed a distinguished career as a United States Marine, serving in Vietnam. He then worked as a civilian for the Defense Investigative Service and the Department of Defense from which he retired.
Ken was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sanford and First Presbyterian Church of Lake Mary. In retirement, he was a crossing guard for Lake Mary Elementary School and volunteered there as a reading tutor. He is survived by his brother Allen Doktor of New Jersey, his niece Natalie Cozzani and sister-in-law Valerie Rye Weld, both of California.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Officiating Pastor Hugh Lackey.
