Obituary

Reverend Kenneth Lee Cummings joyfully joined his beloved wife, Marcella, in Heaven on
August 15, 2015 at the age of 91. Born on March 4, 1924 in Little Genesee, NY, he is preceded in death by his parents, Harry L. and Geneva M., his first wife Bette, his brothers, Thomas and Harry (Winona) and his sister Margaret (Cummings) Lee.

Ken was a veteran of three wars, WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. His military career started at age 17 when he joined the U.S. Marine Corps (1941-45), and fought in the Pacific Theater and Guadalcanal. He joined the U.S. Army in 1951, and then the U.S. Air Force in 1952 serving during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He worked on surveillance and camera equipment during the Cold War and later became a Minuteman Missile Instructor. He retired from the Air Force in 1968 as a Master Sergeant. Ken was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.

After the military, he earned a Bachelor and a Masters degree in Divinity from Trinity College and served as the pastor of Orange Lake Village Church, Seminole, for 18 years. He is survived by his beloved sons, Kenneth (KC) L. Cummings (Susan) and Karl L. Cummings (Debbie), his stepson, Kenneth Walters (Sherri) and stepdaughter Marianne Walters Cary (Michael), 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Lou (Cummings) Myers, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Ken touched so many lives with his service to our country, his love of the Lord, his kindness, generosity, wisdom and friendship, and he will be missed and loved until we all meet again in Eternity. A special appreciation is extended to all family, friends and neighbors who helped care for him over the past few years.

Services are Wednesday, August 26th at 11AM at Allendale United Methodist Church, 3803 Haines Rd N, St Petersburg, FL 33703. Interment will be at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
