Ken pased away peacefully on December 31, 2014. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut April 16, 1914. His father was Ernest Brown and mother Jenny Lind. Ken had a sister Pat and brother Chester. He married Betty Sliwa in 1941 in Fall River, Massachusetts. Betty passed away in 1996.
Dad married Mattie Lewis in 1997. Mattie has been in a nursing home in Oxford Mississippi since 2008.
Ken and Betty had three children, Kenneth (Sylvia), Peter (Gigi) (Peter died 2001) and Stephen (died 1999).
Ken is survived by his son Kenneth and grandson Michael (Theresa) great grandchildren Ben, Rachel and Joshua and granddaughter Jennifer (Frank II) great grandchild Frank III. Ken has nieces and nephews in Florida, Mass. and Rhode Island.
Ken apprenticed as a machinist in Bridgeport during the 1930's when jobs were scarce. During the war Ken worked for the Navy in Newport building torpedoes. After the war he worked in textile manufacturing in Fall River, repairing and making parts for commercial looms and other heavy machines. In 1962, after their children were gone, Ken and Betty sold their home in Tiverton, RI and moved to Daytona Beach, FL. In Daytona Ken worked for GE until his retirement in 1976. At GE he built custom machined parts for the Apollo program.
A service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 10 at St Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 861 Maitland Ave. Altamonte Springs, FL. A reception will follow at 1240 Wolsey Dr., Maitland, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army.
