Keith H. Fowles, 86, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on December 1, 2014.

He was born in Milo, Maine, the twin son of Marjorie and Charles P. Fowles of LaGrange, Maine. He attended public schools there, and then graduated from the University of Maine, Orono, in 1950, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with a minor in Speech. Upon graduation, he was employed as a DJ at WABM, Houlton, Maine. In 1951 he was transferred to WAGM, Presque Isle, ME., where he worked as a radio DJ and then later at WAGM-TV as a news anchor, production manager, and operations manager. In 1962 he was transferred to Portland, Maine as General Manager of WPOR-AM. He returned to WAGM-TV in 1966 as Operations Manager of WAGM-AM/TV. In 1976, he was appointed Vice-President and General Manager of WAGM-AM/TV.

During his years in Presque Isle, he was a director of School Administrative #1 from 1961-63 and from 1966-1968; a director of the Chamber of Commerce from 1969-1972; a director of the Industrial Council from 1970-1973; and a member of the Rotary Club. He was also a member and director of the Portland (ME) Rotary Club. He was elected to the Presque Isle City Council in 1971 and served as Mayor in 1973.

He was married on December 24, 1954, to Shirley Clark of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, daughter of Charles and Helen Clark, late of Orrington, Maine. They were married at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Chesley Husson, founder and President of Husson College.

His professional achievements included director of the Maine Association of Broadcasters from 1965-1970; was President of Association for two years in 1969 and 1970; and was named Broadcaster of the Year in 1975.

He resigned from the WAGM-AM/TV in 1978 and moved to Orlando, Florida, where he joined the University of Central Florida as General Manager of WUCF-FM, and taught broadcasting classes. He was appointed acting head of the Radio/Television Division of the School of Communication from 1995-1997; and was appointed to the position of Assistant Professor, Radio/Television in 1995. He retired from the University in 1997.

He is survived by his wife Shirley, his four children: Andrea of Orlando, FL, Kimberley Clukey of Herman, Maine, Kevin of Wayne, Maine, and Allison of Weare, NH; three grandsons, two grand-daughters, and three great grand-children. He was pre-deceased by his mother, Marjorie and father, Charles; his twin brother Kenneth of Cromwell, CT and by his sister Elizabeth Fowles Waugh, of Macon, GA.
