Obituary

Kathryn Marie Wallace, aged 82, died peacefully with family by her side on June 14, 2016 after a long illness. Kathryn was born June 12, 1934 in Utica, New York, the daughter of James and Lila Doherty.

Kathryn grew up in Syracuse and New Hartford, New York and graduated from Utica Catholic Academy High School - Class of 1953. After graduation she was an office worker at Sturdy Togs and West End Brewery in Utica. In 1965, she wed the love of her life, John L. Wallace. They were blessed with the rare gift of a happily ever after marriage, lasting 51 years.

She enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid tent camper with her husband and family in the early years of their marriage. They spent many summers in their camper on the shores of Oneida Lake in Sylvan Beach. After living in Syracuse for 30 years she and her husband moved to Orlando in 2005 to be near their grandchildren in their retirement years.

Kathryn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a devout Catholic with a deep faith that sustained her throughout her life. As the oldest of ten children, she became like a second mother to her seven brothers and two sisters. She was a special Aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Her large and loving extended family will miss her greatly, but they are comforted by the end of her suffering and the hope of seeing her again in a better place.

She is survived by her loving husband, John L. Wallace, daughter Sharon Wallace, and son John P. Wallace, her daughter-in-law Beth Stephenson Wallace and her grandchildren, Rachael Wallace and Jacob Wallace. Her siblings: James Doherty III, Francis Doherty, William Doherty (Suzanne), Joseph Doherty (Christine), Mary Doherty, Michael Doherty (Patti) and Rose Doherty. She was pre-deceased by her parents, her brothers Edmund and Richard Doherty.

Visitation will be at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Altamonte Springs on Monday, June 20, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will follow.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Kathryn's memory to Angels Among Us to St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 861 Maitland Ave, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701
