Kathryn Lydia Larson Johannes of Windermere, FL passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020 at the age of 82.
Kathryn was born on February 25, 1937 to Harry W. Larson and Viola Leaf Larson. She was a graduate of Rochelle High School and Illinois State University. She held a bachelor's degree in Education.
On January 26, 1957 she married Donald Johannes in Belvidere, IL. They resided in Belvidere and Rockford before retiring to Florida in 2010. They had two children, Julie Diane and Bradley Scott.
Kathryn worked for many years as a teacher and educator before working along with her husband in the insurance and investment industry. They represented many companies including Metropolitan Life, Mass Mutual and New England Life.
She and Don were active in the Rock Valley College community and the Tebala Shrine Organization. They enjoyed traveling and experiencing the cuisine while doing so. Their favorite destination was an annual visit to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational Tournament.
Kathryn is survived by her daughter Julie (Jack) Nimtz of Florida and her son Bradley (Michel) Johannes of Iowa. Grandchildren, Shari (Phil) Sulser, Zachary (Kaitlyn) Johannes and Jeremy (Samantha) Johannes. Great grandchildren, Alexis Sulser, Samuel Sulser, Lane Johannes and Wilhamena Johannes. Sadly, she will miss the birth of two additional great grandchildren in March 2020.
She is predeceased by her husband, Donald Johannes, her parents Harry and Viola Larson and brother Duane Larson.
