Kathleen "Kat" Lyons Carlisle
Kathleen "Kat," passed peacefully at her home on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. She was born on July 17, 1942 in Ft. Wayne, IN. She was the daughter of Air Force officer Raymond Lyons and his wife Doris (both deceased.) They traveled around the country and spent two years in Okinawa. They moved to Florida in 1960 and she graduated from Rollins College with an Education degree in 1964. Her first years of teaching were in Texas and she taught 30 years in Seminole County as a Special Education teacher. Kathleen was an avid golfer and member of the DRLGA at the Country Club of Deer Run. She and her golfing friends played several times a week for more than 30 years. Among her other past times were reading, puzzles, crafts, shelling the beaches of Sanibel, FL, gardening, and in recent months developed a love for playing Mexican Train dominoes. She was loved by friends in the many chapters of her life. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband William "Bill" Messina (and previous husband Ronald "Ron" Carlisle). Kathleen is survived by sister Susan Lyons Murray (husband Paul Murray), brother Peter Michael Lyons (wife Stephanie Lyons), daughters Christine Merrill and Susan McCord, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In Kat's honor, a celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015: 2-5 pm at the Country Club of Deer Run, Casselberry, FL. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society (htpps//:donate.cancer.org.) Funeral arrangements entrusted by
