Obituary

Kathy was born on March 13, 1926 and grew up in Searsport, Maine. She went home to be with her Lord on March 21, 2016, one week after her 90th birthday. She was predeceased by her parents Harvey and Leola Brock, sisters Margaret Given and Elsie Herrick, brother Harvey Brock, and nephew Richard Given. She is survived by nieces Sandra Herrick Mucci and Debra Brock Hand, nephews Ronald Given, Gary Brock, and Steven Brock, and their families. She graduated from Searsport High School in Searsport, ME in 1944. Upon graduation, she was employed by Civil Services assisting with concerns associated with WWII. After the war ended, Kathy moved to Bangor, ME where she worked with Eastern Corporation. There she also attended Columbia Street Baptist Church where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. Feeling led of the Lord to get a Christian education, Kathy went on to graduate from Barrington College in Massachusetts (formerly Providence Bible Institute in Rhode Island) earning a degree in Christian Education.

Following college, she worked in a number of children�s ministries, eventually moving to Richmond, VA to teach at Richmond Christian School, a ministry of Emmanuel Baptist Church. In 1959, Kathy came to St. Petersburg, FL where she taught kindergarten, first at Florida Christian School and later at Central Bible Church where she retired after 25 years of teaching. She has always been active in church, volunteering to work in Vacation Bible School, Awana Sparks Club, visitation, MOPS, Missionary Workday Fellowship, Wordless Book Ministry, and teaching children�s Sunday School classes. Even during her later years, Kathy volunteered at Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park. Kathy was formerly a member of Central Bible Church in St Petersburg, and at the time of her death, a member of Starkey Road Baptist Church in Seminole. Kathy served her Savior faithfully, loved and was loved by many friends and family, and was known for her wonderful sense of humor. Friends and family will gather to celebrate her life on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the R. L. Williams Funeral Home on 3530 49th Street North in St. Petersburg. A viewing will be at 12:00 noon, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Her body will be interned at Memorial Park Cemetery.
