Juliet "Judy" Kalb Cate was born on a farm in Mason County, Kentucky where she lived with her mother, father and three siblings. As a lifetime member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), she attended Mill Creek Christian Church and was baptized in Licking River in Flemingsburg, Kentucky.
She attended Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, where she received her degree. Judy met her husband, Reverend J.W. Cate, while both were attending Transylvania University. They wed in 1955 and had 48 wonderful years of marriage.
Judy began her teaching career in Lexington in the fall of 1955. She continued as a teacher for another 19 years in Florida and retired from Clearview Elementary School in 1998.
Judy was a loving, doting mother to her three daughters: Cynthia Ruth, Rebecca Katherine and Andrea Colleen. She was a member of the PTA, a Girl Scout leader to her daughters' troops and, at times, a stay -at- home mother. Upon her retirement from teaching, she began her second career as a full- time grandmother to her ten grandchildren.
Judy was a member of Palm Lake Christian Church since 1966 where she served as a Sunday school teacher, Choir member, Board Member, Elder, and on various committees. She was a long time member of the Christian Women's Fellowship.
Lovingly remembered by her family: daughter, Rebecca Temme (Jeff Temme), grandchildren Matthew Stroh, Jaclyn Tillotson (Eric Tillotson) and Sean Temme; daughter, Andrea Cate (Steve Zachem), grandchildren, Anneliese Delgado-Cate, Austin Delgado-Cate, Annika Fuller and Adam Fuller; Son-in-law, Patrick Connolly, grandchildren, Meaghan Cotiguala (Jim Cotiguala), Brendan Connolly and Griffin Connolly; Siblings, Philip Kalb (Linda Kalb) and Phyllis Steelman; brother-in-law, Eubie Cate (KyThi Cate); sister-in-law, Patricia Donaldson (Stephen Donaldson); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her husband, J.W. Cate, eldest daughter, Cynthia Connolly and sister, Anna Florence, preceded her in death.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, October 16th at Palm Lake Christian Church at 3pm, 5401 22nd Avenue North, St. Petersburg, Florida 33710. There will be a reception following the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Palm Lake Christian Church in memory of Judy Cate.
