Joyce Irene Poitras, 90 of Pinellas Park, Fl, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 26, 2015. She was born in Limestone Maine to Lemuel and Beatrice Morrell. She is survived by three children, Robert (Waydette) Poitras, of Savannah, Georgia, Helen (Leo) Salvato, of Scarborough, Maine, Scott (Suzanne) Roix of Largo, Fl. Four grandchildren, Andrew (Libby) Poitras,of Beverly, Mass., Kristin (Rick) Kendall,of Savannah, Ga, Max and Abby Roix of Largo, Fl. Also a sister, Ruth Richardson of Elmira NY, and a brother Fred (Pat) Morrell of Melbourne, Fl. , and 5 great grandchildren, Mackearney, Henry, and Lily Kendall, of Savannah, Ga, and Alex and Abby Poitras of Beverly Mass. She was predeceased by her husband Oscar, and her daughter Lila Poitras.
Joyce graduated from Limestone High School , and went on to beauty school. She owned her own salon for several years. In 1944 she married Oscar Poitras and raised her family in Limestone, Maine.
She was active in The Garden Club, Daughters of Isabella, and St Louis Parish. She was a wonderful homemaker and had many close and dear friends over the years. After the passing of her husband of 54 years in 1998, Joyce moved to Florida to be closer to family, residing in Clearwater Cascades. She thoroughly enjoyed all of the friendships she made over the past 18 years , and all of the activities certainly kept her young. She enjoyed bowling, card playing, bingo and dominoes.
Her greatest love was that of her family. She was celebrated in May for her 90th birthday with all of her family members present. That day was a highlight in her beautiful life. She was kindhearted, nurturing, and always saw the bright side of any situation. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of her life will take place Tuesday, December 1st, at 4:00pm at R. Williams funeral Home, 3530 -49th Street North, St Petersburg, Fl. 33710. Interment will be at St Louis Catholic Cemetery, Limestone, Maine in the Spring.
