Obituary

Joyce E. McKinon, 78, of New Salem, PA, peacefully transitioned into the arms of Jesus with her loving family by her side on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in Mon Health Medical Center, Morgantown, WV.

Joyce was born on December 3, 1945, the daughter of Leroy and Gertrude (White) McKinon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece/Goddaughter, Tamika McKinon-Yourse; brother-n-law, Ronald Russell, and nephew, Ronnie L. Russell.

Joyce was a graduate of Uniontown High School. Following graduation she moved to East Orange, NJ. She worked for Bell Atlantic/Verizon for 30 years where she retired from in1994. Following her retirement, she relocated to Pensacola, FL where she was an active member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert L. Likely. Joyce moved back to Pennsylvania in 2007 to be near her family.
Joyce was a loving, caring, generous, family-oriented person. Her nieces, nephews and God children meant the world to her. She loved traveling, cooking, entertaining, and hosting dinner parties. And she was known for her red lipstick, pearls, and ponytail.

Joyce was a very active member in the community and was also president of the Business and Professional Women's Foundation.

Throughout her sickness, Joyce never lost her joy, her hope, or her trust in God. She never complained. When you asked how she felt her response was always: "I'm fine!" She
continued to pray, laugh, and encourage others.

Joyce is survived by her siblings, Marva Kirby and husband Leonard of Uniontown, PA, Beverly Russell of New Salem, PA, Leroy McKinon and wife Ruth of Pensacola, FL, and Karen M. McKinon of Uniontown, PA.; nieces and nephews, Toni Kirby, Leonard J. Kirby, Leon McKinon, Anthony Johnson, DeShaun Johnson, Terra Russell, and Elita McKinon-Brown; Godson, Paul McCray, and numerous cousins, relatives and great friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Conley, the nurses, therapists, aides, and the staff at Laurel Ridge Center for taking such good care of her, also WVU Health System and Select Health, Morgantown WV.

Her homegoing service will be held at City Chapel, 254 East Main Street, Uniontown, PA, June 15, 2024. The family will welcome guests at 11AM with Services beginning at 12PM. The Reverend Leonard Kirby, officiant.

Arrangements are under the direction of the DeGusipe Funeral Home and Crematory, 65 N. Gallatin Ave., Uniontown, PA, Stacey A. Dolfi, FD. Interment is private.
