Obituary

Josephine "Jo" Margaret Streep, 69, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017. She was born on September 26, 1947 in Wichita, Kansas to Horace E. Winger and Virginia Kraus. She was a Catholic who enjoyed sitting in the front pew for Mass at St. Margaret Mary with her children when they were young. She attended Edgewater High School and took a job with The Winter Park Telephone Company soon after graduation. She was actively involved in the English Estates Elementary Dividends program where she took great joy in operating the school store with her son. She also enjoyed a long career in banking, serving as Executive Assistant to the President/CEO of both SouthTrust Bank and Florida Bank of Commerce. Along the way, Jo developed many long-lasting friendships that continued for decades. She was loved for her honesty, integrity, loyalty and of course, her sense of humor. Jo didn't have just one or two "BFF's" – she had dozens upon whom she bestowed that cherished honor. Jo was a role model of strength and courage as she battled cancer over the past 20 years, and continued to meet those challenges with humor, grace, and determination until just a few days before her death. Her will and resolve were truly one of a kind. She was a proud and dedicated mother to her special needs daughter, Erin Streep, and son, Jeff Streep, both of Winter Park, Florida. Jo was also grateful for the close relationships she had with her siblings - Brothers Horace Jr. and Charlie Winger and Sister Judy Winger.
Jo lived, survived, and fought the good fight for her daughter, Erin.
