Joseph "Joe" Vaught "transitioned peacefully" to his eternal home on Sunday, December 4, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. Joseph is survived by his mother, Diane Awbrey(John), brothers Patrick Vaught, Daniel Nyholm, sister Jennifer McDonough(Brendan) and step brothers Peter Nyholm, Michael Vaught and Anthony Vaught. He also leaves behind several amazing aunts, uncles, cousins and many amazing friends. And two very kind and thoughtful roommates, Tae and Gavin. He was preceded in death by his dad, Frank Vaught and sister Karen. Joe was born on August 9, 1974 at Winter Park Hospital and spent the majority of his life in and around the Orlando area. Joe graduated from Lake Howell High School and Columbia University with a BA in psychology which he used to spread "light and love" to many co-workers and friends. He also loved music and was very involved in the music scene in the area. He was - as someone wrote - "such an inspiration to so many". Joe was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer in August of 2021 and encouraged all his friends and family to take care of their health. He outlived the timeline of many and I know God gave him that time to mend relationships with others. To make things right with the Lord and loved ones. And he did. My greatest peace comes from knowing he is finally at peace. A small celebration of his life will be held after the first of the year and details can be found at the DeGusipe Funeral Home website. I want to thank all his family and friends for their love and support during his journey. And the compassionate people at Advent Hospice - especially his nurses Janet and Rammel, Dr. Levison, Brook, Elizabeth and Sandra who fought so hard for Joe on a daily basis. To all of you who loved him so much and helped him along his way I am eternally grateful.
The family of Joseph Augustine Vaught invites you to leave a message of condolence on the tribute wall created in his memory.
