Obituary

Joseph Gannaway Mack III was born on January 17, 1961 to Joseph G Mack Jr and Shirley Haltom in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.

Joe grew up in the South, an avid hunter and fisherman. He also excelled at all sports, but especially baseball and football. As a teen his family moved to the Pacific Northwest where he eventually studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington. Joe's career started in Nuclear where he designed and managed Nuclear Power Plants in Washington, Illinois and Georgia. His career brought him back to the South where he ultimately settled in Florida, moving from nuclear power to water. Joe was an engineer by trade but an entrepreneur by heart, building the water infrastructure business for Consumers Water, Schlumberger RMS and Thielsh Engineering. Joe later became Vice President at Hughes Supply, then HD Supply, where he finally retired in 2016. Joe was a force of nature. Anyone who met him never forgot. He loved fiercely and was fiercely loved.

Joe is survived by his wife, Merrilynn Mack, his mother, Shirley Mack, his sister Melanie Potter, her husband, Jeff Potter, his nieces Mackenzie and Katie Potter, his nephew Keegan Potter, and his beloved dog, Katie Bug Mack.

Services will be held at Markham Woods Presbyterian Church on Saturday April 19th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Joe's local no kill dog shelter Pet Rescue by Judy.
