Obituary

MILLER, JOSEPH H., Lt. Col. USA Ret., 94, Maitland, FL passed away Sept. 7, 2014. He was born in Lehighton, PA, the son of Sadie and Layton Miller, deceased. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Barbara Thee Miller.

Joe was a veteran of WW II where he served in the 88th Infantry Division, European Theater. He had a distinguished career in the Service having had many interesting assignments, including 2 years in Turkey. After military retirement they moved to Florida where he worked in the insurance and financial planning business for 22 years. He was a member of Maitland Presbyterian Church where he was active as an elder, deacon, choir member and volunteer. He was also a member of Kiwanis Club of East Orlando among other organizations. Joe and Barbara traveled throughout Europe and the Middle East while in the service. After his second retirement they traveled in their motorhomes to every state in the U. S. and every Canadian providence.

He was predeceased by his brothers Earl and Curtis , his sisters Dorothy Hallman and Mildred Hammel. He is survived by his sister Ruth Keeney. He is also survived by his children Cheryl Harkey (Dick) and son Bruce Miller (Pat). He is survived by 5 grandchildren, Greg, Maryanne, Racquel, Jenni, Billy and 9 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Joe's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Maitland Presbyterian Church, 341 North Orlando Avenue, Maitland, FL 32751.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Memorial Fund of Maitland Presbyterian Church.
