We Will See You Again, Strawberry Fields Forever!
On May 2, 2018, Joseph Thomas Good, aka Bocajoe, passed away peacefully while the morning filled with a hippie tie dye sky - his way of saying good bye.
Joe enjoyed adventure during his travels all over the world, and never grew tired of talking about his experiences during the 1960s which included touring the country in a VW Bus and attending legendary concerts including Woodstock. An entrepreneur at heart, he started his first business in his early twenties, a vegetarian restaurant in Cleveland, OH. Later in life, he enjoyed a successful career in commercial real estate, often talking to people he just met about the many deals happening in South Florida and the complexities of each project.
Joe was a member of the Parks and Recreation board for the City of Boca Raton for more than thirty years, serving multiple times as chairman. He made lifelong friends there and enjoyed ensuring the parks would be the best they could be for all residents to enjoy. He loved his family deeply and his passion for children fed his desire to create unique outdoor spaces for them to play and learn. Often he could be found handing out free bike helmets to adults and children passing by in an effort to encourage them to cycle more and be safe while doing so. One of his favorite projects was the Sugar Sand Park Science Playground that he and his children helped build.
An avoid soccer fan, Joe traveled to numerous World Cups and loved watching his children and grandchildren play soccer. He was always on the sidelines cheering them on and often yelling at the referee!
Joe loved music, especially listening to the Beatles and he considered John Lennon a personal hero.
We will see you again, Strawberry Fields Forever!
Joe is survived by his son Jeremy Good, daughter-in-law Ioana Good and their two children; his daughter Heather Good; his son Travis Good, his daughter-in-law Laurie Good and their four children. He is also survived by his sister Margo Anderson and her two children, Christy and Jeff.
