Obituary

Joseph John Gardner, 86, died peacefully Monday, February 26, 2024 at his home in Winter Park, Florida surrounded by family. He was the youngest of 8 brothers born to Jess and Julia Gardner in Shawnee Mission, Kansas on September 2, 1937. Joe graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1955 then went on to rule the campus of Kansas State University, where he graduated in 1959.

Joe was employed by the land department of Continental Oil for several years before starting Condev Corporation in Winter Park, FL with his brother, Bob Gardner.

He was an active member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and eagerly volunteered on many boards throughout the Winter Park community. He lived a life of service, always offering up his time and talents. Although Joe accomplished quite a lot in his 86 years, his greatest triumph in life was his family. He married the love of his life, Victoria S. Gardner, on June 17, 1967 and they moved from Rockledge, FL to Winter Park where their journey would begin. 53 years on Lakeview Drive was the perfect backdrop for their 4 children,12 grandchildren and ever faithful dog, Winston.

Joe leaves behind his four children: Jennifer Gardner Helms and husband Kelly, Demopolis, AL, Andrew M. Gardner and wife Shannon of Maitland, FL, Christopher J. Gardner and wife Caroline of Winter Park, FL and Laura Gardner Sacks and husband Paul of Winter Park, FL.

Other survivors are his three brothers: James Gardner and wife Anne of Colorado, Robert Gardner and wife Patty of Winter Park, FL, Leo Gardner and wife Geri of Winter Park, FL, along with many nieces and nephews.

Joe will be remembered for his loving nature, kind spirit, and infectious laughter. His family was his everything and their success in life was his greatest joy. While his death will leave an incredible void here on Earth, we are comforted to know that Pops and Mops now have front row seats to watch the rest of the Gardner story unfold. Cheers!

Services will be held 10:00 am on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Palm Cemetery and reception at Interlachen Country Club.
