Joseph Edgar Andre Bourgeois, 84, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Nov.6 2014.
He was born in Shirley, MA and has resided in Florida for the last fifty-five years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nora, a son Mr. Kenneth
Bourgeois (Nancy), and three daughters Mrs. Kim Worthy (Stephen), Ms Kelly Bourgeois (Ricky) all of St. Petersburg and Mrs. Karen Ahlefeld (Johnny) of Lutz, also twelve Grandchildren, two preceded in death, and five great-grandchildren. Joseph was the son of Marcel and Rose Bourgeois brother of Diane Sexton and Arthur Bourgeois, (all deceased). He is survived by a brother Roger and wife, (Beth) and many nieces and nephews.
He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal and three Bronze Stars. Also awarded the United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
He was an active member of the Optimist Club of St. Petersburg. He was an avid gardener, photographer, and loved deep-sea fishing. He loved traveling throughout Canada, visiting cousins and sight seeing.
He was an employee of Sealtest for twenty-three years and retired from Northside Hospital after thirteen years.
He was loved by all because of his gentle nature. He will be greatly missed.
There will be a Funeral Mass at Transfiguration Catholic Church on Thursday, November 13 at 9:00AM followed by interment at Bay Pines National Cemetery at 10:45AM.
