Joseph Lawrence Barna, 78, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, September 8, 2019. He was a dedicated and loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Arlene, his younger sister Grace, children Darlene and Denise, and grandson Eric.
Joe was born on January 30, 1941 in New York. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He moved his family to Florida in 1977 to open up his own TV repair shop. In 1986, he began a 22-year tenure at Walt Disney World where he worked on the Illuminations Fireworks show at Epcot and maintained electronic equipment for the park's attractions. He retired from Disney in 2008. He loved everything Disney.
Joe was a devout Catholic. He enjoyed traveling with family, playing and listening to music, and classic cars. One of his greatest joys was being a grandfather.
Joe was a kind, caring, and generous man who loved his family with all his heart. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held at 6 PM on Friday, September 13, 2019 at DeGusipe Funeral Home, 9001 N. Orlando Avenue, Maitland, FL 32751.
A mass will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Annunciation Catholic Church, 1020 Montgomery Rd, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. There will be a reception immediately following the mass.
