Jose Raul Figueroa passed away at the age of 77 years old, at the Life Care Center in Altamonte.

Joe was preceded in death by his father Concepcion Figueroa, his brother Miquel Figueroa and in March of this year his mother, Virginia Rodriguez Figueroa.

Joe is survived by his only sister Teresa (Henry) Cabrera, His Children Jose E. (Rachel) Figueroa, Veronica Figueroa (Dr. Ismael) Soto. His grandchildren Gabriel, Alexandra, David, Abdiel and Joshua. He also leaves behind a host of cousins, uncles and aunts.

Joe's journey began Sunday, December 20th, 1942 in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico. Years later, his parents moved to the Bronx in NY. He met and married Maria whom gave him 2 children. He worked at the ConEdison Power Company. He later bought and ran a Hardware store as well as 2 rooming houses.

Joe became ill and returned to Puerto Rico, where he lived until he returned to the Bronx and stayed with his mother. He returned temporary, to live in Puerto Rico on February of 2017 and returned in September to live in Florida, to be closer to his son Joey.

Joe's strength was tested, he overcame health issues, Appendicitis and 5 surgeries in the last 2 years. He passed away unexpectedly on Monday August 3rd, 2020 at 3:30pm.

Joe's life was a journey of many ups and downs, but he always faced them with a positive attitude. He always had a smile or encouraging word. He truly loved people. He was the life of the party, the one who always made everyone feel special. A true storyteller, but a man who could not tolerate injustice to others. He never thought twice about helping those in need… people were important to him.

We will always remember Joe for his love of music. He was a great dancer, he could dance Merengue, Bachata, Salsa and as a true romantic he sang beautiful romantic melodies.
