Jose Antonio Gonzalez, Jr, Retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant, entered into eternity peacefully in his home on June 07, 2016 three days prior to his 70th birthday. At the age of 69, his battle with cancer ended.

He was born Jose Antonio Gonzalez Mejias in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico on June 10, 1946 the son of Luz E. Mejias and Jose Antonio Gonzalez. He was the only Son of seven children, survived by his 6 sisters: Ellen Luna, Mary Grace Vargas, Rosemary Muniz, Norma Resto, Ginny Resto & Gloria Leon. He was known as Tony, Tonito, Tio, Papi or Grandpa.

He was a proud father of 5 Children with former wife of 20 years, Carmen Robles: Christina Gonzalez (Texas), Antonio Gonzalez (Tampa, FL), Jose Gonzalez (Tampa, FL), Antonette Gonzalez (Sanford, FL) and the beloved Robert Gonzalez, 12 Grandchildren: Robert Santos, Aaron Gonzalez, Gabriel Gonzalez, Aleyiah Gonzalez, Mariah Gonzalez, Luis Borrero, Joshua Cordero, Kayla Medina, Carrie Gonzalez, Joseph Gonzalez, Jose Gonzalez, Alina Gonzalez and 2 Great-Grandchildren: Hayden Renee Santos & Cecilia Ann Santos.

Tony truly loved fishing, spending time with his family and proudly served our country for 20 years and was awarded the following recognitions/medals: Army Commendation Medal / Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award) / National Defense Service Medal / Vietnam Service Medal / NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3) / Army Service Ribbon / Overseas Service Ribbon (3) / Vietnam Campaign Medal / Driver Badge / M-16 Rifle Sharp Shooter Badge.

He will be truly missed but we know he is pain free rejoicing a long side his mother & beloved son. We could not have been more blessed to have you as part of our family.
