Obituary

John William Wragg, 78, passed away in Altamonte Springs, FL, on February 21, 2015.

John was born on April 24, 1936, in Norwalk, CT. He was the younger of two children born to John T. Wragg and Grace E. Evans.

John spent his childhood years in the Northeast but when he was a teenager, his family moved to sunny, warm Central Florida. In 1954, he graduated from Lakeland High School in Lakeland, FL. He then served five years in the Navy. While stationed in Japan, he met and then married his "lucky charm" Ryuko Yokoyama in 1957. After leaving the military in 1961, they moved to Central Florida. While working for Martin Marietta in Orlando as an aerospace engineer for 13 years, John graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Rollins College, Winter Park, FL, in 1970. He subsequently worked for R.W. Beck and Associates as a computer programmer for 23 years until his retirement in 1998.

John was a loving, dedicated husband and father who cherished spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved to laugh and tell jokes. His favorite pastimes included baseball, crossword puzzles, animals, the outdoors and travel. He and Ryuko travelled abroad to many countries but their fondest memories were traversing thousands of miles across the beautiful United States with their faithful wire-haired terrier Tinker in their trusty RV.

John Wragg is survived by his wife, Ryuko, son Wayne Wragg, daughters Elaine Huffman and Beverly Rettstadt, and his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marian.
