Dr. John William Wilcox, Jr., 90, of Winter Park, passed away on November 16, 2015. He was born on June 28, 1925 to John Sr. and Margaret Wilcox in Charleston, West Virginia. As a young man, he met and married the love of his life, Mary Belle Goeller, to whom he was married for 67 years until her death in May of 2015. He was a veteran of WWII, an expert draftsman but decided to embark on a career in medicine to become a Podiatrist. After finishing medical school in Chicago, he and Mary moved their growing family to Orlando in 1956 and soon thereafter opened his medical practice in Winter Park where he was only one of two Podiatrists in the Central Florida area. He practiced medicine for 30 years in Winter Park until retiring in 1988 to Franklin, North Carolina where he and Mary relished in the beauty of the Smoky Mountains and playing endless rounds of bridge and golf.
Along with Mary Belle, he is predeceased by his daughter Pamela Jill Kesler and his grandson John W. Wilcox IV. He is survived by his sons, John W. Wilcox III (Patty), Jeffrey Wilcox (Camy) and his daughter Janet Baird (Jim) along with his grandchildren Kelly Frame, Jaclyn Dunn (John), Jennifer Tschida (Stephen), Jessica Wilcox, Riley and Bradleigh Wilcox and great grandchildren Julia Wilcox, Juliette Tschida and Jackson Dunn. He was a very kind and gentle man with a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed but know he's glad to be back together with Mom.
The family is having a celebration of life on Saturday, November 21st at DeGusipe Funeral Home, Maitland, Florida at 5:00 p.m.
