John G. Ploehn, Jr., 73, of Longwood, Fl. passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Hospice of the Comforter. Mr. Ploehn was born June 4, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois.

Mr. Ploehn is survived by his wife, Kathryn; his children, Brian Ploehn, Rebecca Keller (Conner), Michael Ploehn, Megan Loso (Jeremy) and six grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his brothers, Robert Ploehn and William Ploehn.

John was an active member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs for over 30 years. He had a special interest and ministry in Adult Faith Formation and Scripture Study.

John lived life with great enthusiasm and great love of God. He faced his death with courage and peace. In a Facebook post, John's oldest son, Brian, guided by his Dad's wisdom wrote the following:

" It was May 4 when he finished the race. He ran the race with pride and integrity.
He did his best. He entered the great stadium to see that they were waiting. An
amazing crowd of friends, family, even strangers. Young, old and in between.
They were all cheering for him. They had been waiting for him. The applause was
for him alone. He did not stop until he reached the podium when God took his hand
and brought him home."

We celebrate the life of John Ploehn and we rejoice in his eternal peace.
