Obituary

Phillips, Sr., John R. M.D. 92 of St. Pete Beach passed away November 1, 2017.

Dr. Philips was an Army veteran of WW II. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Margaret Mausser Phillips; loving father of Mary Ann Littrell (Daniel), John Phillips, Jr., Peggy Law (Jeffrey); brother: William E. Phillips (Nancy); 8 grandchildren; five great grandchildren.

"Jack" was an avid golfer from his High School years, where he met his beloved Margaret, to the Senior Golf Association of America, including spending many years golfing at Trumbull Country Club in Warren, Ohio. He was an Anesthesiologist and Chief of Staff at St. Joseph's Hospital in Warren for over 30 years and was truly dedicated to his patients. Jack was known for his sense of humor and wit and hosted and emceed many events through the years including roasts and reunions.

He was a life long Michigan Wolverine and Chicago Cubs fan but also spent countless hours cheering for Cleveland and Tampa Bay teams.

He was the president of the board at the Beach House in Pass-a-Grille and belonged to the Pass-a-Grille yacht club. He was well known as the "poet laureate" of Pass-a-Grille and could always be found during his daily walk delivering his newly created poems to those he greeted along the way.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. John Vianney Catholic Church 445-82nd Ave., St. Pete Beach on Thursday, November 9 at 12 noon.
