Obituary

December 7th, "A day that will live on in infamy."

Every now and then comes a person who consistently changes the lives of those around them for the better. John Lowe was one of those people. The stories from family and friends highlighted a man that was always there when you needed him, a brilliant mind, incredible sense of humor, and a pourer of very large Scotches. John passed on at the age of 91 after a Zoom call with extended family. His immediate family was with him. He loved his family and only let go when everyone let him know it was OK. In his last moments, he was peacefully listening to the music he used to love to sing: The Beatles, I want to hold your hand.

John was born in Stamford Connecticut and raised in Milford Connecticut. He did live a wonderful couple years in California. He graduated with honors from Milford High School.
Between semesters at college, he worked for a private accounting firm. John attended and graduated, also with honors, from the University of Connecticut, and was immediately employed in New York City by the CPA firm of Arthur Andersen. He became a licensed CPA both in New York and New Jersey.
Arthur Anderson was an early innovator in the field of producing financials by computer processing. He was soon placed in the data processing field. He travelled widely through the USA, for Arthur Andersen, assisting corporations and companies in developing their individual accounting reports with custom designed computer software programs.

Before developing his own private data processing corporation, Automated Financial Services (AFS), he was employed by corporations as computer advisor, Controller, or Treasurer. AFS provided computer processing accounting for corporations and companies, as well as tax returns for numerous corporations and individuals.

He and his wife Joan lived in Cedar Grove, N.J. where Jack was an active member of the Lion's Club. They retired to Shushan New York in 1997 moving recently to Lake Mary Florida, near their son, Bill and his wife Margo.

His last year of life was a long and slowly accelerating decline. However, throughout trips to the hospital, physical therapy rehab, and home, he always derived joy from visitors. And he had a lot of visitors wherever he was. Yet through all this, he would still give a smile, funny grimace, and crack a joke.
A funny quirk about my dad. Whenever my mom, the social butterfly, wanted to throw a party, he would vehemently disagree. However, once the people showed up, he always had a great time. My day was always the consummate entertainer.

John Lowe was pre-deceased by his first son Robert John Lowe, and is survived by his wife Joan, son Bill and his wife Margo, and his granddaughter's Kylie and Jaclyn. We will miss him every day. In fact, everyone that knew him will miss him every day.

The family of William "John" Lowe invites you to leave a message of condolence on the tribute wall created in his memory.
