John Thomas Lowe of Largo, Florida died on October 20th 2017. He was 88 years old. Born on April 5, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to John W. and Virginia Lowe, he joined the Navy and was stationed in Bethesda, Maryland. A veteran of World War II, he served as a Hospital Corpsman, meeting the love of his life Ruby Bly during this time. The two would be married for 69 years. Following his military service, he worked for The Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania (Verizon) before retiring to Florida in 1981. John was also member of the Pennsylvania Bell Pioneers, the Civil Air Patrol, and the Erial Ambulance Squad. In addition to those organizations, he was a brother in the Masonic Lodge located in Hammonton, New Jersey. A captivating storyteller, John spoke enthusiastically about aviation including his adventures as a private pilot and owning his own small aircraft. He is survived by his three daughters: Nancy, Barbara and Brenda as well as his son, John. He was a loving and caring grandfather to six and a great-grandfather of 13. A viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday October, 24th 2017 at St. Dunstan's Anglican Church, where he was a member. The funeral service will follow at 10:00. John will be laid to rest at 1:30 p.m. during an interment ceremony at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
