John Richard DeAngelis, 84, of Smithfield, PA passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, in J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.

John was born on April 13, 1938, the son of Anthony and Josephine (Pacello) DeAngelis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law; Harold and Anita Jacobs, sisters in law; Autumn Fike and Heather Sherman and brother-in-law Raymond Allen Jacobs.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years; Gisele (Jacobs) DeAngelis of Smithfield, sister; Patty Afragola of North Haven, CT, brothers in law and sisters in law; Parris and Tammy Jacobs, Kim and Ralph Burnette and Kipling and Martha Jacobs, special niece; Holly Mangosh-Newberry of Kempner, TX, special nephew; Christopher Jacobs and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

John served in the United States Navy as a Fire Control Technician on the USS Maddox. He also served in the United States Army Reserves, Company A, 102nd Division Infantry Regiment. John was an electrical engineer for Southern New England Telephone. He was a member of the Florida Locksmith Association and the Italian American Club of Winter Haven. He was the first chair Violinist in the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. John loved to play poker with his Italian American friends. He was very proud of his Italian heritage.

Arrangements are private and under the direction of the DeGusipe Funeral Home and Crematory, 65 N. Gallatin Ave., Uniontown, PA, Stacey A. Dolfi, FD. A memorial service in memory of John will be held at a later date.
