John C. Berry, age 83, died surrounded by family on November 25, 2021 at his home in Winter Park, Florida after a courageous war with cancer. John fought and survived for years after being diagnosed with stage four cancer throughout his body and being given only months to live; earning the nickname Warrior John from his family. Despite the setbacks, John's determination never faltered. Even with his body failing, John's mind and spirit were strong until the end.

John was born on February 16, 1939 in Jackson, Mississippi to his father James and mother Deborah. He grew up in Gulfport, Mississippi and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with Honors. After graduating college, John served in the United States Army where he met his wife Olga while stationed in New York. John worked as an accountant throughout his career, until he retired as an Examiner for the State of Florida.

He loved his family immensely and was survived by his wife Olga, children Devon and Regina, son-in-law Todd, and five grandchildren Isabela, Ashton, Hunter, Koan, and Sebastian.

John enjoyed sports and was a long time fan of the Orlando Magic basketball and Tampa Bay Buccaneers football teams. John also loved soccer and volunteered for the Winter Park Soccer Club as his son's coach for many years. During that time, he also became a soccer referee where he 'reffed' alongside his teenage son.

John was an honorable man who stood up for what he believed in. He always saw the good in people and supported his family at all times. He was an animal lover and was loved by his family pets. He will be missed greatly by his family who loved him dearly. We will miss you Warrior John!!!

Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial service and celebration of life on Saturday, December 18th at 2:00 p.m., located at Queen of Angels Catholic Cemetery, 1901 Queen of Angels Drive, Winter Park, FL 32792.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society for Team Warrior John.
