Obituary

Jesse F. Harry, former teacher, coach, administrator, headmaster, beloved father, husband, brother, and general provider of anchor and foundation to a great many people in his life, including students, associates, friends, and family, passed away Friday, July 10, at 1:07 pm. Jesse was born near Grover, North Carolina, and grew up as a central figure in that community. He married and moved to Sanford, Florida teaching and coaching at the former Sanford Naval Academy, where he ended up as Headmaster before the school closed. He then taught with Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, Ga and also served as a recruiter there. Later he entered public school, where he taught subjects such as chemistry, history, and physical education and in one employment, served as assistant principal for Teague Middle school, before becoming registrar with Lyman High School until his retirement. Jesse loved boating, rebuilding an entire sloop in his backyard at one point, and was a tinker in his backyard shed, building things like toy airplanes for neighborhood children and an experimental man-powered helicopter that never flew but related his indefatigable character that would never show defeat. He loved animals, his various pets through his life, and was kind and thoughtful to all who knew him. Jesse was liked by all, and loved by many, and will be deeply missed. ""
