Obituary

Jeffrey Allen Bates "Jeff", 47 passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025, peacefully at home with his fiancée Stacey Leonard and their cats, Gizmo and Isabella by his side.

Jeff was born September 18,1978 to the late Brenda Marsh Bates and the late Ron Bates,Jr at Frick Hospital.

Jeff went to Southmoreland High School. Jeff worked for his family's coal yard, groundskeeper for Green Ridge Memorial and supervisor for many years at Superior Steel. Jeff was also supervisor for many years for M A Wilson Painting until his automobile accident in 2021. Jeff loved spending time with his fiancée, his cats and family. He was a jack of all trades, loved his classic rock especially The Doors, Alice in Chains, playing his bass guitar.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joshua Bates and his grandparents, Ron C. Bates,Sr. and Oscar and Betty Marsh.

Jeff left behind several aunts, uncles, cousins and soon to be sisters-in-law; April (Rob) Barnett of Connellsville, PA, Jamie Tefft of Watertown, New York, his brothers; Alex Bates and Mike Bates of Mt. Pleasant, PA, his sisters; Christine (Graham) Baker of Youngwood, PA and Amy (Adam) Kramer of Syracuse, New York. Jeff also leaves behind his nephews and nieces, Max and Owen Baker. Nick Tefft, Sophie and Lucy Kramer, Adrianna (Sal)Epiriosa, Daisy Garretts, Shawna Zaffina and Amilia (Millie) Peefer and his great nephews and nieces, Devaugn'tae, Liam, Ace, Zhen, Jurnee, Aria and Ella.
Jeff loved his nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews unconditionally.

His smile would light up the room whenever they would visit, video call or when he received photos of them.

Jeff had a very special uncle, Dickie (Edie) Shroyer of Somerset and a very special aunt, Esther Powell of Connellsville.

Per Jeff's request there will be no viewing.
