Dr. Jay Wishau died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the age of 89. Born on August 1, 1926 in Wausau, WI to Irma (Weisse) and John Wishau, Jay attended elementary and secondary schools in Wisconsin and earned his B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. He furthered his education at Purdue University, receiving a Master's Degree in Chemistry and Physics. He taught a myriad of subjects in a Nebraska high school and then moved to Orlando, FL, where he taught Chemistry and Physics at Edgewater High School. During this time, Jay received a second Master's Degree in Educational Administration at the University of Florida. When Seminole Community College was established in 1966, Jay was named Chairman of the Math and Science Division, and again furthered his education by receiving his Doctorate in Educational Administration from NOVA University.

Jay has been described as a devoted husband and father, "Born of the Earth, raised on a farm, enjoyed a basic life, educated the young, stared at the stars, and foremost, was ALWAYS a Florida Gator."

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Marie (Panico), his son Roger and wife, Jan of Naperville, IL and his daughter, Janice and her husband Jack Kustron of Columbus, OH. He has four grandchildren; Tyler (Jensena), Julie (David) Hamilton, Ryan and Ben and two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Caroline, and his sister Joanne Wanasek of Burlington, WI.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, September 21, 2015 from 5 to 7 pm at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Charlie Mitchell at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 11 am.
