Obituary

Janie Powell Walden, 78, of Orlando passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016.

Janie was born in Coffee County, Alabama, February 1, 1938 to the late Gus Turner Powell and Claudie Mae Davis. She graduated from Boone High School of Orlando in 1957, and married the late Alfred E. Walden that same year.

Janie was a loving wife, nurturing mother of three, and dedicated homemaker. She loved to be outside, and could often be found planting flowers, pruning shrubs, or manicuring the grass at her Pine Hills residence. She was an avid painter who loved to read, and surrounded herself with books on philosophy, theology, psychology, gardening, and etiquette. In addition, Janie was a valuable part of her neighborhood for over 50 years, where she regularly contributed to keeping the neighbors lively and alert.

Janie is survived by two children, Jeffrey Walden of Tavares, and Ronald Walden of Sanford, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred E. Walden, in 1997, and her daughter, Cynthia Walden-Crumb in 2004.
