Janet Spence Hamilton was born on September 11, 1957 to Jack and Carolyn Spence in Bradenton, Fl. She went to be with the Lord at 7:18pm on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. She is a graduate of Tyrone Junior High School and Gibbs Senior High School where she was a high school cheerleader, and she received her Bachelor's degree in 1978 from Florida State University, during which time she spent a semester in Spain, a time she spoke of frequently. She lived and worked in San Diego, California from 1981 to 1982, but returned to St. Petersburg and met Jim Hamilton, the love of her life. They met in May of 1982 and were married on October 16th of that year at St. Luke's United Methodist Church where she was a faithful member. Janet loved crafting, sewing, quilting, taking pictures, antiquing, but most of all Janet loved making memories with her family, especially her three grandsons. She never missed a birthday, or anniversary, and always succeeded in making those around her feel special. She will be remembered for her creative, fun spirit, her attention to the special the details of life, and the love that she gave freely to those around her.

She is survived by her husband of almost 36 years, Jim Hamilton; her two sons, Matthew and his wife Elizabeth, and Peter and his wife Tessa; her grandchildren, Jordan, Landon, and Isaac; her mother, Carolyn; her sister, Virginia; three half-siblings, David, Cathy, and Michael.

Her Memorial Service will be held at 10am on Monday, August 12, 2018, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 4444 5th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL 33713. In lieu of flowers, the family is requested that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at https://bit.ly/2Me75gH .
