Devoted Mother and Friend
Janet H. DeLucia of Arcade, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at Palm Garden of Orlando. She was 95 years young. Janet was born on March 10, 1927 in Buffalo, the only child of William A. Piel and Helen Graf.
Incredibly giving, Janet spent her life helping others. In her younger years Janet worked in hospitality, including as a chef for many WNY establishments. Later on, she worked as a private caregiver, caring for the elderly in their homes.
In her free time, Janet loved sunning at the beach, enjoying nature and her pets, cooking and entertaining, cruises, shopping, music, playing Scrabble and cards, and telling jokes. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, supporting WNY Masons.
She was predeceased by her parents and her late husband, Michael Joseph DeLucia (September 14, 1993). Janet is survived by daughter Donna Marie DeLucia (Dan Curran) and son Michael James DeLucia.
A Celebration of Life will be planned in Buffalo in the spring. In lieu of flowers, tribute gifts in Janet's memory may be made at the Erie County SPCA:
