Born in Orlando, Florida, Janelle Kylene Spradley grew up in Longwood, Florida, Richmond, Virginia, and Princeton, New Jersey. She attended Sabal Point Elementary School and was homeschooled with Circle Christian School from middle to high school where she graduated, excelling in science, singing and sign language. Janelle attended Seminole State College and had hoped to complete college as an interior designer but her health did not allow her to continue that pursuit.

As a young girl she participated in Seminole Soccer, Pop Warner Cheerleading, and ballet, jazz & tap dance. Janelle was active in Brownies and Girl Scouts where she thrived earning many merit badges, attended Girl Scout Camp Makowie, and raised money to help other scouts in need.

The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Longwood was her childhood church where she was confirmed, participated actively in the youth group, and was a volunteer babysitter for the Sunday church nursery for many years.

As President and Secretary of the Seminole County 4-H, Janelle's volunteerism included helping to establish a 4-H Literacy Program in Seminole County for disadvantaged youth, raising 4-H program funds, and assembling annual Christmas Gift Baskets for children in Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital during the holidays.

As a member of Seminole County 4-H Club, she won many local, regional, district, and state awards that included a state award for photography, a regional winner award for her creative sewing designs at the Florida State Fair, and the first place Educational Excellence Award for her work in Entomology for a seven county district award.

As part of her high school curriculum, at 16 years old Janelle volunteered at Florida Hospital Altamonte in the Emergency Room Intake and she was presented the Youth Volunteer of the Year Award by Florida Hospital for the extraordinary number of volunteer hours she contributed to the hospital.

Janelle realized she had diabetes at age 16 and then fought this debilitating disease as a Type I diabetic since she was 18 years old. As she battled diabetes, she also experienced congestive heart failure, kidney failure, and lost one of her eyes from related health problems.

She never wavered from her love of photography, sign language, antique cars, and Marilyn Monroe memorabilia. Her favorite places to go were the beach, Wekiwa Springs, and out to dinner, especially if steak, lobster, or calamari were on the menu! As her neck tattoo read, "Living My Life", she enjoyed her friends and family to the fullest.

A compassionate person, Janelle rescued and adopted three beautiful kittens that she named Ziggy, Spritzer, and Jackson -- who all were a very important part of her life and who helped provide companionship, peace and calm during her many illnesses.

Janelle was a beautiful person with a kind heart that was full of compassion for others. She will be truly missed but we know that God in Heaven has given her a beautiful new home for Eternity where she will be pain free and surrounded by many family loved ones.

Janelle is survived by her parents Daryl and Peggy Spradley; sister Kristen (Matt) Matteson; uncle George L. Pink (Linda); aunt Debi Armstrong (Randy); uncle Jon Spradley (Ruth); 8 cousins (Chris Pink, Mindy Self, Matthew Armstrong, Brett Armstrong, Eric Armstrong, Kaitlyn Armstrong, JC Spradley, Ben Spradley); and 10 nieces and nephews (MaryJane East, Zionna Stroud, Gracelyn Lukowski, Juneau Lukowski, Kendall Lukowski, Scotty Lukowski, Maigyn Matteson, Nina Matteson, Matteo Matteson, and a new Matteson nephew to be born in January 2018).
