James A. Shanahan, Esq., a native of Rushville, Indiana, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his Florida home on May 1, 2016, after a 3.5 year battle with ALS. Jim graduated cum laude with a finance degree from the University of Notre Dame and magna cum laude from Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana. Jim was a member of the Indiana and Illinois Bars, and a founding partner of Shanahan & Shanahan, LLP, a municipal finance firm focusing on all aspects of municipal finance across Illinois and Indiana.

Jim is survived by his mother, Betty, his wife, Rebecca, his two children Rory and Maureen, daughter-in-law Sarah, a grandchild and an ever-growing, multi-generational family of Shanahans.

To recognize Jim's lifetime of contributions to his hometown, he was honored as Ambassador of the City of Rushville in 2015.

Memorial services will be held for Jim at the University of Notre Dame's Basilica of the Sacred Heart at 9:30am on May 20, 2016.
